No AI.
We don't use AI in our design process. We believe in making things with our hands and supporting artists and makers. Bag patterns are drafted by hand (and often with trial and error and swear words) in our studio. And we started designing our fabric long before AI became a thing. We want to continue to honor our beginnings while also supporting other makers.
Handmade. Small Batch.
Everything we produce is made by hand in small batches. We do everything from fabric design, to cutting, to pressing, to piecing, to turning, and finishing. We believe in making things that are functional and fun to carry. We live in our bags to know what works and what doesn't. If we wouldn't carry it, we don't produce it. (And these designs had to survive my 8th grade classroom before sewing was a full time gig.)
A Family Legacy
Erin Lane began as a side hustle with my mom and myself in one 10 X 10 sq ft room. We had to take the doors off the closet to have room for my sewing chair! My mom has given me a beautiful legacy of friends and skills and it's wonderful to continue these traditions every day doing all the things we once dreamed about--like designing our own fabrics. And I would say we have come a long way from the die-cut banner made after school using die cuts (before electronic cutters.)
